Del Talaiot al nou món is a unique trip with a unique artist. From neoclassic to jazz. A program which combines the American musical tradition represented by A. Copland, with Marco Mezquida, a Balearic artist who appreciates and takes care of jazz with a language of his own.
Mezquida is a piano virtuoso through his understanding of jazz. But not only this. This program premieres in the Balearic Islands his concert for piano and orchestra entitled Talaiot, which was composed as a homage to his homeland, mixing a jazzy harmonic language with the best symphonic tradition. It is going to be opened by A. Copland’s Appalachian, a work that features the music of the new world from the perspective of different traditions. A program focused on the present from a twentieth-century point of view, without forgetting past traditions.
