An American boxer arrives in Barcelona at the beginning of the 20th century. His name is Jack Johnson and he is the first African American to become the heavyweight champion of the world. He faced off against Jim Jeffries in what was called the “Fight of the Century” and, against all odds, he won the fight and defeated racism. However, Johnson would have to pay a heavy price for his victory; an unjust sentence makes him leave the country. And although Barcelona has since changed and is now a freer city, the ghosts of Jack Johnson’s past and the memory of his rival, Jim Jeffries, continue to haunt him. In the ring, the “Fight of the Century” ended a long time ago, but Jack Johnson’s life must go on. What is the price we must pay for our victories? Where is the line between success and failure?
