The life story of four women who were raised in a foundling home. An upholstery of ghosts is unfolded in front of our eyes where we not only discern the foundling’s stories, but also that of her mothers, her daughters, and other persons close to them.
Angelines, who comes from another province, is confined there by her parents because they cannot take care of their daughter. Esperança, granddaughter of victims of reprisal during the Civil War, is sent to the foundling home by her mother in order to move her away from her abusive father. Magdalena’s mother passes away during her own labor and is confined by her father, who finally commits suicide. María José is rejected by her mother and adopted by another family who also ends up refusing her and confining her in the foundling home.
These four women join together in a story of friendship and survival in an attempt to overcome the outdated Catholic education, the perils of the eighties, and their own familiar circumstances through the mutual support and the hope of a thriving future.
