Roberto G. Alonso, as heir to the sequins, stiletto heels and feathers of more than 100 years of history on our stages, will be joined by Jazmine Verdaguer – musician Jordi Cornudella's pubilla and alter ego – in this show premièred at the former Barcelona Model Prison, once a space for the LGBTI collective repression.
The queer movement and drag culture could be visualised and reasserted – even becoming mainstream – because several people paved the way for them earlier with their lifestyle and entertainment vision. They found themselves doing politics with their way of doing things and expressing themselves, claiming their identity before the world due to the time they had to live.
Jo, travesti is a great tribute to all these artists who opened many doors to freedom with their actions.
