The writer and academy member Carme Riera (2015 National Prize for Spanish Letters) has made her first incursion into theatre offering a voice and physical presence to one of her preferred characters, Archduke Ludwig Salvator. She presents the illustrious aristocrat distanced from the clichés that have accompanied him in recent decades. In this production, the Archduke dictates some personal confessions to his last secretary, he then seals them before a notary and they cannot be made public until 25 years after his death.
In Les darreres paraules, Ludwig Salvator is presented as an authoritarian, irascible and somewhat unscrupulous man who abuses the weakest using his privileged social status. This is an Archduke that Carme Riera already depicted in the novel of the same name published last year which obtained the Premi Sant Joan de novel·la 2016. This portrayal of the character is of greater literary interest while offering a new vision of the myth.
The prestigious actor Andreu Benito, who plays the Archduke, has spent more than three decades working alongside the best directors from the national scene such as Fabià Puigserver, Josep M. Flotats, Lluís Pascual, Sergi Belbel, Mario Gas, Joan Ollé and Àlex Rigola.
