The Festival Folk You! is already a real
benchmark among folk music circles all over the state. Now it is coming to the
Petita at the Teatre Principal with a concert by Martin Simpson, who will be
accompanied by Andy Cutting on the accordion. Simpson is now the most
outstanding artist on the British folk music scene and this is accredited by
the fact that he received 27 nominations in 15 years for the prestigious BBC
Radio 2 Folk prizes, and that Jackson Browne, who collaborated in the recording
of Never Any Good (a record that is celebrating its 10th anniversary and that
he will play fully in the concert), considers him to be one of the three best
guitar players of all time.
The evening will get underway with the Mallorcan Joana Gomila alongside her
band Folk Souvenir, who will offer a guided visit through traditional Mallorcan
music influenced by other deep-rooted musical traditions such as jazz.
