Ocaña was really a unique artist. He started as a performer some decades before any of us could even know what a performance was. It was through these artistic performances that the naïve painter turned into a pioneering activist for the rights of the LGBTI people long before we could understand the meaning of this acronym.
Starring actor and singer Joan Vázquez, accompanied by the guitarist Marc Sambola and the playwright Marc Rosich, the controversial character will be celebrated by means of a dramatized recital of the popular folk songs called coplas especially arranged for the occasion. Ojos verdes, Y sin embargo te quiero and La niña de fuego will be some of the classics that cannot be missing from this show.
Joan Vázquez disguises in front of the audience, he puts himself in the artist’s shoes and under that mask he recalls the most important chapters of Ocaña’s hard life and tragic death.
Best Musical and Best Musical Leading Actor awards in the 2019 Premios de la crítica (Critic Awards).
