Penev is a production for those who love football but hate the theatre, and also for those who love the theatre but hate football. And also for those who love both theatre and football. It is a production about second-hand, used and tired people. About souls to exchange. Xavo Giménez, author, director and actor of Penev, is one of the most compelling voices of the Valencian theatre scene. His innovative works stand out for the originality of the themes he deals with and his approach to them, which is full of humour and irony. In Penev, Giménez begins with the mythical Bulgarian player, who at the end of the 1980s was signed by Valencia CF, then makes a journey through a city and its society, through its weaknesses and obsessions, through its hopes and disappointments: basically, a journey through life.
