The Principal opens the theatrical season with this new production, in which two significant names of the current Mallorcan and Catalan scene, Toni Gomila and Oriol Broggi, join forces to give life to Rostoll cremat, an allegory of ambition and human greed reflected in contemporary Mallorca.
Director and playwright present a proposal for reflection on our current society from the acquired baggage of popular and universal literature: Joanet de sa gerra and George Sand as the thread of the narrative, with additions from Shakespeare, Chekhov and Ibsen. An assembly of ideas and situations that depicts, with the landscape of the tourist industry, the evolution of the inhabitants to our country, placing their contradictory ambition in the foreground.
A show that projects a new look at our most recent past, offering a new mirror to explore the lights and shadows of tourist Mallorca, with a view of the present and the future. Denunciation, irony, humour, truth and doubt in this new text, with the poetic staging of Oriol Broggi.
After making his way with Acorar, Infinir or Peccatum, Rostoll cremat is the first major production by Toni Gomila as a playwright, where he returns, this time as an actor as well, displaying his authority and precision in the use of our language. A festival of word to once again portray, with passion and humour, the background of our collective identity.
