Born in Seoul in 1994, Seong-Jin Cho began playing the piano when he was 6 years old, performing his first public recital aged 11. Seong-Jin Cho stepped into the limelight in 2015 when he won the first prize at the Fryderyk Chopin International Piano Competition in Warsaw. Since then, he has frequently performed in some of the world’s most iconic and prestigious concert halls, such as Carnegie Hall in New York and The Royal Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.

During the first half of his debut appearance at the Principal, and in celebration of the 40th anniversary of the Chopin Festival in Valldemossa, he is set to play for us the pieces Humoreske in B-flat major, Op. 20 by Robert Schumann, Scherzo No. 1 in B minor, Op. 20 by Frédéric Chopin, and Scherzo No.   2 in B-flat minor, Op. 31, also by Chopin. The repertoire featured in the second part of his performance will be centred around Alban Berg’s Piano Sonata,  Op. 1  and Sonata en B minor by Franz Liszt. A once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness first-hand the virtuosity of a pianist like Seong-Jin Cho.
