It is a real event hosting the Spanish premiere of the latest work by Belgian company Needcompany, led by Jan Lauwers for over 30 years. The Teatre Principal invites one of the most respected and acclaimed companies from the European contemporary scene. An international, multilingual group, with innovative and multidisciplinary ideas. The company, one of the lead voices in the social debate on the urgency and beauty of art, presents the emotive epic War and Turpentine based on the masterpiece Guerre et Térébenthine by Stefan Hertmans. A performance that combines music, dance and theatre, capable of submerging the spectator in a family history that reveals childhood as experienced during the First World War in the trenches, as well as the premature loss of a lover. The Flemish writer shows his fascination with the life of his grandparents during this period and makes use of some old notebooks that were given to him full of unexpected secrets. The production, presented by 11 actors of 7 different nationalities, boasts the unforgettable protagonist of Isabella’s room (2004), Viviane de Muynck.
