Sant Llis, October 2018. After four hours of heavy rainfall turned a little mountain spring into a rushing torrent, a little Majorcan village got flooded and as a result of it eleven people perished, several got injured and serious material damage was caused.
The characters of this fictional historical document find themselves defenceless in a modern world which ignores what to do with its past, its culture and its history. The title, Zona inundable (Floodable Zone) is just a warning no one wanted to hear.
When the files from Sant Llorenç des Cardassar’s courts of peace got completely flooded, the history of thousands of people was just washed away.
The main image of this show stems from memory, a memory kept in the hands of some volunteer archivists that help us to tell this story, to bring a part of our identity back and to listen once again to the voices of the past.
