What would happen if we publicly judge Hamlet as a common killer? The Principal proposes a look at the dramatist and director Roger Bernat, one of the most unique creators of the Catalan scene, by means of his commendations.

Please, continue (Hamlet), a real trial of the citizen Hamlet, accused of killing his Uncle Polonio, played by a real operational judicial team. Judge, lawyer, prosecutor, forensic and psychiatrist - major actors in the courts - become interpreters here: as in the comedy dell'arte, they play with the structure of the case, manipulating the arguments, rhetoric, language and gestures that are theirs during the real processes. Will we know how to recognise the theatre of life? Will we become aware of the weight of the codes and the rules put into play and, paradoxically, of the subjectivity of certain decisions? A stage device in which Roger Bernat makes the fourth wall disappear, placing the individual, turned into a spectator, at the centre of his projects, since the outcome of the trial will be in the hands of the popular jury, represented by the attending public.

Co-production of Le Phénix (Valenciennes), Théâtre du Grü (Geneva) Elèctrica Produccions (Barcelona) and Dreams Come True (Geneva) Co-realisation: Montévidéo (Marsella), Le Carré – Las Colonnes Scène conventionnée (Saint-Médard- en-Jalles/ Blanquefort) In collaboration with: Ville de Genève, République et canton de Genève, ProHelvetia Fondation suisse pour la culture y Ministerio de Cultura y Deporte – INAEM
