This work, which is inspired by Sebastian Alzamora’s novel Reis del Món (world kings), oozes the same power and strength that its two protagonists: the oligarch Joan March and the humanist Joan Mascaró.

Both were born in the same Majorcan town (Santa Margalida) in a time interval of seventeen years. They have little more in common. March and Mascaró’s conceptions of the world and time were completely opposed. On one hand, the financer and smuggler Joan March worked compulsively in his businesses, and he became one of the richest and more powerful persons among his contemporaries. He had capacity enough to make governments collapse, and to set conditions in his transactions with distinguished personalities such as Franco or Churchill.

On the other hand, Joan Mascaró was the main translator and disseminator of Hindu mystical thinking into Occidental culture. His huge fame is proved by The Inner Light, the song that the Beatles dedicated to Mascaró. He spent up to twenty years translating the Hindu poem Bhagavad Gita.

In Reis del Món this two characters meet in an office from the fifties. Money and power against the search for beauty and goodness.

Reis del Món signifies a work of reflexive theatre with categorical characters, where ethics are always at the forefront.
