Cenerentola By Zaches Teatro

The interpretation of Cinderella by the company Zaches Teatro is a fairy tale of initiation where the difficult path towards maturity requires a detachment from the past. 

Trapped in her own interior world, Cinderella chooses to remain hidden under the ashes of loneliness, almost invisible and blackened by the soot of an apparently extinct life, and patiently accepting all the punishments imposed by her mother and stepsisters. But deep down in her soul, the embers of her hidden desire of a completely different existence are burning. Little by little, Cinderella gradually gains confidence and valor, learns how to face adversities, and no longer fears her jailers. Cinderella’s interior strength will be her redeemer. 

Displaying different genres such as object theatre, dance, expressive movement, original music, and puppet theatre language, the performers’ bodies give life to the characters of this story in a whirling show. The play is full of invention and animated by strange presences that range from comical to grotesque, with an impressive visual impact. The handling of puppets becomes a dance which evokes the old presence of the initiation rite under the ashes of the typical fairy tale.
