A sharp interpretation of contemporary society and the human condition, which has awarded Yasmina Reza with a Tony prize for her theatrical adaptation in Broadway.

Two couples discuss the violent behavior by the son of one of the couples, who broke the teeth of the other couple’s son with a stick. During the conversation, the argument scales and gets heated. It was supposed to be a peaceful discussion to solve the conflict, but finally bursts into an absolute chaos, evincing the contradictions between discourse and the adults’ actions, and demonstrating that violence may be an inextricable trait of human nature.

Un déu salvatge is one of Yasmina Reza’s crucial works. Gaining an immediate success after its premiere in Paris, it has been awarded with various prizes such as the Tony award to the best theatre play after its performance in Broadway. It has been translated into English and Spanish, and premiered in illustrious places such as London, Madrid, Chile, or New York. In 2011, it was adapted to cinema (Carnage) under Roman Polanski direction and starred by Jodie Foster, Kate Winslet, Christoph Waltz, and John C. Reilly.
