The 65th production by Sa Boira depicts powerful Medea’s tragedy.

The company Sa Boira returns with a Greek tragedy after some years without visiting this genre after their successful works Las Troyanas and Fedra.

This interpretation of Euripide’s Medea by Ramón Irigoyen was directed by Nuria Espert with Irene Papas performing the role of Medea. It premiered in the Teatro Griego of Barcelona in 1992.

This version gives a lot of relevance to Medea, depicting her tough personality, power, intelligence, and passion, without concealing her vengeful spirit as well as her violent actions. She is a woman who defies the gender roles of her epoch. Here, Medea is a powerful witch, but at the same time a tormented mother.
