Set in Roma during the Napoleonic invasion of 1800, Tosca is one of Giacomo Puccini’s most celebrated operas. It premiered at the Teatro Costanzi in Rome on 14th January 1900.
Puccini relied on his two usual collaborators, the librettists Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, to create one of the most splendid and dramatically perfect operas of the Italian lyricism in general, and of the ‘verista’ genre in particular.
Produced by the Teatro Massimo of Palermo.
