Opera concert semistaged. The Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra and Teatre Principal join forces to bring to the stage this piece, which is one of the most highly regarded contemporary operas, by Benjamin Britten. The play was written by Britten in 1957 and performed for the first time in 1958 in the Aldeburgh Festival that takes place in Suffolk, United Kingdom. Noye's Fludde is based on a 15th-century mediaeval text, based on the Chester Mystery Play. It narrates the Old Testament story where Jehovah, who is discontented with mankind, decides to purify the Earth with a great flood, but saves Noah, the only good man.
