Cant Còsmic de Walt Withman XXIII Festival de Poesia de la Mediterrània

Two intense and passionate creators, Jaume C. Pons Alords (writer, translator, reciter and cultural agitator) and Dídac Richer (musician, poet, reciter and composer), have joined forces to create the show Cant Còsmic in which words, melodies and songs are combined to celebrate the legacy of the first great modern poet, Walt Whitman. The performance is based on the text Leaves of Grass, which was translated into Catalan by Pons Alorda as Fulles d’herba. Whitman is a poet of the self and of the collective, of land and sea, of jobs and liberties, of democracy and war, of nature and civilisation, of the sublime and the ridiculous, of the soul and of sex. Pons Alorda’s explosive energy unites with Rocher’s sensibility and deep voice to familiarise us, in exquisite Catalan, with one of the most important and powerful poets of our times.
