For some reason that is difficult to pin down, Shakespeare’s Queens—Cleopatra, Lady Macbeth, Titania and Margaret of Anjou—leave, or rather escape from, their respective works and find themselves on the same, thunderous stage. They make the most of being together and they relive and share the passions that have left their marks on their lives, their shared experiences appearing similar yet different: the weight of the crown, the failed promises of love, their ambition for power, the bondage of cowardly men, humiliation, war, distress, defeat and their desire to die rather than face shame.

Laughter and crying, courage and fear, attraction and disgust, victory and defeat... Opposites as relevant today as they were in the Baroque period. An unexpected and dangerous combination with unpredictable consequences.
