The Parking Shakespeare Company stages a new version of King’s Night adapted by the playwright and director Marta Aran, who has updated to our days this classic by William Shakespeare. King’s Night is a romantic screwball comedy where the different ways to love and be loved are displayed so as to understand what identity and gender roles are. Marta Aran was willing to link this classic with the Queer theory by inspiring in the aesthetics of the Drag world, especially with those of the Drag Kings, a minority group withing this world.

Parking Shakespeare has been performing Shakespeare’s plays since 2009. They have done so in the open air, without any specific scenography, sound or lighting equipment. The staging just lays on the words and the acting of the members of the company, trying so to retake the essence of Shakespeare’s popular theatre while updating it so that modern audiences can get closer to it.
