Buffalo Bill, the mythical explorer and buffalo hunter, decorated for his “deeds” in the so-called Indian Wars in the middle of the 19th century in the American Western, stuck without anything to do when there were no more Buffalos left to hunt, had the “brilliant” idea of setting up a show, a circus, with the survivors of the conquest of American West. Even before the cinema did it, he created a new genre, the western. Buffalo Bill’s circus of Indians and cowboys travelled around half the world until it reached Barcelona. Thus, he became an icon, the first celebrity in history; by codifying the U.S. ways, uses and patterns, the young nation had started shaping itself.
Raquel Sans, journalist and presenter of the news on the Catalan Broadcasting Corporation (TV3) goes on stage to make a posthumous interview to the legendary cowboy. Together, they will travel from the great prairies of Faro West to 19th century Barcelona.
This dialogue will explain the reasons why the ideal of the rude and manly man embodied by Buffalo Bill didn’t seem to thrill that much the audiences from Barcelona at that time.
Ramon Madaula writes the script and plays the character and Mònica Bofill directs this work for the theatre once again after her success in Los Brugarol.
