We have the honour to receive in Mallorca the last production by the Valencian dance company Taiat Dansa. Man Ray transcends the work of this iconic North American photographer in order to focus on the creator’s fetishist relationship with his muses and, by extension, on the exchanges between the male artists and their female models. These contacts are sometimes inspiring, and sometimes the models are treated as plain objects. Extreme relationships, especially among the surrealist artists, manipulating the women’s image, body and sexuality throughout the history of art.

In this show, Man Ray fragments and multiplies himself, all his identities appearing obsessively, and reflects on a reality structure dictated by humans. Through his own rules, his own devices. Through his photographic eyes. When stating that “art will be disturbing, or it won’t be nothing,” Breton could not have imagined that Man Ray’s CLICK of his camera would be the most disturbing shock within the surrealist discourse.

This show is a coproduction of the Festival Grec de Barcelona 2017, the Institut Valencià de Cultura, the Ballet de la Generalitat, the Sagunt a Escena 2017 and INAEM.
