La plaça del Diamant is one of the benchmarks of Catalan literature and a post-war classic. Our heritage review is an ethical and historical duty. We are our memory.
Natàlia is a humble woman from the Gràcia neighbourhood. Her life's river runs through the movements of great history, from the full of promises times of the Second Republic to the abrasive experience of war and the subsequent submission and silence decades imposed by Franco's regime.
With a powerful team of eleven performers, we set out to explore how the gestures and experiences of women are transmitted and transformed from one generation to the next—how in the same instant, so much, so much life reverberates. We want to rediscover this fascinating novel from a contemporary perspective, adding value not only to an exciting journey to our past but, above all, a universal and tremendously current experience through enthusiasm, confusion, motherhood, anguish, loneliness, fight, survival, delirium and quieting, until reaching an impressive recognition of one's own identity and the strength of tenderness. We want to make this jewel resonate, as beautiful and rough and forceful as the diamond itself.
