George Tabori is a playwright of the greatest interest in the 20th century. However, his work has hardly been experienced in Spain. Brecht's theatre and a caustic, macabre sense of humour, perhaps characteristic of the Jewish tradition, resonate in his writing.

In Coraje de madre (Mother's Courage), he recounts how his mother, Elsa Tabori, was saved from being deported to an extermination camp. The mother herself corrects her son's version over and over again to nuance the details. And so we see how difficult it is to tell certain things that cannot be said and which, nevertheless, must be.

Helena Pimenta's stage direction is an endorsement for this text, which moves across conflicting registers to reach the audience with the accurate dimension: emotion, lightness, vitality, respect, empathy.
