Fans of flamenco will have surely not forgotten the concert that Mayte Martín gave us in the Sala Gran in November 2016. Now she returns to the Principal in the context of the XXI Festival de Poesia de la Mediterrània to introduce us to a series of songs built on the luminous verses of the renowned poet from Malaga, Manuel Alcántara (1928). Martín connects with the lyrical and intimate nature of his poems and has made twelve songs that offer the emotion and light of the south and that are the foundation of his show alCANTARa MANUEL. Landscapes of the poet's childhood, his experiences in the Civil War, the sea, Malaga, his relationship with Picasso, Miguel Hernández or Manuel Altolaguirre ... all this forms the imaginary of this work created with venerable respect for the author's poetry in which Martín leaves the frontiers of flamenco without losing his flamenco streak. Here he shows us that few cantaoras in the musical world have the sincerity of his voice, his wealth of records, the warm melancholy with which he reels the verses of the poet.
